Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT)
Problem: Current TPT Android app excludes a large audience of users from making mobile purchases
Solution: Incorporate a landing page for browsing products
Hypothesis: Allowing Android users to make mobile purchases will increase revenue

Overview
Teachers Pay Teachers is a platform where teachers can sell or purchase lesson plans, activities, or assessments.
The Android TPT app does not allow users to browse or purchase products.
Android is the global market-share leader at 71.45% for mobile operating systems. A redesign of the Android app will increase purchases and overall profit.
The Problem
Teachers Pay Teachers Android App has many issues, mainly the inability to browse and purchase product.
Product Goals
-
Provide product browsing capabilities for buyers
-
Create alternate navigation to accommodate added buyer features
User Ratings and Reviews
There are over 7 million users on TPT and over 50,000 Android downloads. I identified three key components which made for a negative user experience, log in issues, lack of browsing capabilities, and insufficient seller data insights. I prioritized providing users the opportunity to browse product and make purchases. Data taken from the Google Play Store.

Wireframes & Prototypes
I utilized paper and pen to create low-fidelity wireframes. Later I converted sketches into mid-fidelity wireframes and a prototype with Figma. I prioritized providing users the opportunity to browse product and make purchases. Due to adding a buying component to the app, I opted to change the navigation bar for a drop down menu to allow for more options.

UI Design
Style Guide
The overall UI of the TPT app was already adhering to design principles of C.R.A.P. or Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity. The only adjustments I made were distribution of the color palette chosen by TPT. The new logo was design by Teachers Pay Teachers during their website redesign.
Colors
The app’s main colors are green and white, this was not changed because it provided high contrast between text and its background; creating an inclusive design for vision impaired users.
Typography
The Typography used Inter for optimal legibility.
Icons
I used clean and simple universal icons where necessary. Universal icons assist users with a language barrier.

Next Steps & Additional Notes
The Android TPT app has over 50,000 downloads from the Google Play Store. None of these users can browse product or make purchases. Many teachers use time outside of school to browse for teacher ideas and products on their phones. Providing buyer browsing capabilities would increase overall profit for sellers and Teachers Pay Teachers.

If this redesign was solicited, the next steps would be usability testing. This could be done using the BETA option with the Google Play Store or in house. The next version of the app could take the next step and provide editing capabilities for sellers.

The app redesign is aimed at global Android using educators who could buy and/or sell products. It is vital to increase the accessibility of the app, especially for users who utilize assistive technologies and users who know English as a second language.
